About Wentworth Institute of Technology
Wentworth Institute of Technology originated on April 5, 1904, when a Board of Directors was organized to found a mechanical arts college using Boston industrialist Arioch Wentworth’s $7 million donation. On April 10, 2012, the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC) Commission on Institutions of Higher Education (CIHE) formally notified Wentworth Institute of Technology that the Level III accreditation was extended to 2021-22 under the fifth president, Dr. Mark Thompson. Getting into Wentworth Institute of Technology is classified “moderately difficult” by Peterson’s though 5,670 of the 6,172 Fall 2018 applicants were chosen for 92 percent acceptance. First-year Leopards must verify high school or GED diploma completion. Curriculum prerequisites include four English, two science, and three math units through Algebra II. Standardized tests are only required within one year of secondary graduation. Competitive transfers will hold 15+ accredited credits and GPAs of 2.5 or better. International students often need a minimum 53 PTE, 6.5 IELTS, or 79 TOEFL iBT score. The School of Graduate Studies seeks four-year bachelor’s majors with GPAs above 3.0. The Two-Year MArch program mandates a Bachelor of Science in Architecture. M.S. in Construction Management cohorts with two years of experience are preferred.
