The number of online degrees available at all levels at Southern New Hampshire University is staggering. Many such schools offer 60 or 70 programs, but Southern New Hampshire University provides 200 degree opportunities. Students may study Forensic Accounting and Fraud Examination, International Supply Chain Management, and even Nursing completely online. The available nursing degree is a master’s degree.

About Southern New Hampshire University

The university began simply and humbly with a total of 45 students that were split between day and night classes. The year was 1932, and the Depression was raging around the world. The school’s founder was adamant that the teachers teach the why behind accounting and not just the how. It was likely his contribution, however small, to keeping the disaster of October 29, 1929 from happening again.

Southern New Hampshire University was also one of the first universities to allow the payment of tuition in installments. The original aim of the school was to prepare people for work as accountants, bookkeepers, and secretaries. Students who wished to take a second year could if they qualified. The university’s other claim to fame at the time was that the faculty, in addition to being college-educated, also had real-world work experience in the subjects they taught.

Southern New Hampshire University Application Requirements

The college’s tradition of “education for all” means that they accept the vast majority of students who apply. Instead of rejecting students with lower achievement in the past, the college tailors students’ course tracks and works with them to find paths of study that will have the best chance to ensure success both in school and in the workplace thereafter.

All students must submit all official transcripts from schools attended prior to admittance. Students must also sign an attestation that they have completed the previous level of education, such as having a bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution to be admitted as a graduate student.

The school does not require the Graduate Record Examinations, Graduate Management Admissions Test, the Miller Analogies Test, the Scholastic Aptitude Test, or the American College Test for admittance, but students may submit the scores if they wish.

Letters of recommendation, statements of purpose, resumes, and other documents are mostly required, but some courses of study do not require them. Students should check the website to find out if their chosen field requires these, or other, documents.

Tuition and Financial Aid

Some of the programs at Southern New Hampshire University have different levels of tuition. The basic tuition for undergraduate students who study on campus is $30,756 annually. Room and board cost between $11,000 and $15,000 annually, depending on the type of accommodation requested and meal plan chosen. Assorted other fees bring the total to roughly $50,000 a year. Students who study online play by the class or credit hour. The cost is $960 per class or $320 per credit hour. Graduate students pay by the class, and that cost $1,881. The various one-year programs cost $2,100 per class instead. Also, there are various insurance costs for older students who are no longer covered under their parents’ plans, sundry lab costs, and administrative fees.

Students who wish to apply for financial aid do so by filling out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid, which is also known as the FAFSA. This form covers a student’s financial assets and income, along with any private financial aid received, and the school and the government jointly decide how much need-based aid each student receives.

Need-based financial aid is awarded through scholarships, grants, and subsidized loans. Subsidized loans do not accumulate interest while the student is enrolled. Most students receive a combination of awards to pay for their tuition.
