This university awards 10 associate degrees and 17 associate of applied science degrees as well as 20 certificates. There are more than 96 bachelor’s degrees as well as master’s degrees and doctoral programs at this school. The associate degrees and associate of applied science degrees are largely career-oriented programs.
Several of the programs are offered online. Some of these are associate degrees in criminal justice, early childhood education, general studies, pre-business, and others. Associate of applied science degrees include the AAS in Business/ Pre Business; AAS in Business Management: Accounting, Bookkeeping and the Associate of Applied Science in Business Management; Administrative Support. Bachelor’s degrees at New Mexico State University include the Bachelor of Arts in Sociology, the Bachelor of Business Administration : General Business, The Bachelor of Business Administration: Information Systems, The Bachelor of Criminal Justice, the Bachelor of Science in Hotel, Restaurant and Tourism Management and the Bachelor of Science in Nursing: RN to BSN.
Additionally, the school offers programs as hybrids that require some campus face-to-face time and as ITV programs which are interactive television offerings.
Traditional undergraduate programs at NMSU include the Bachelor of Accountancy and the Bachelor of Science in Aerospace Engineering. This is a 120 credit-hour program that covers low-speed and high-speed aerodynamics; propulsion; orbital mechanics; flight mechanics and control; aerospace structures and laboratory practice and other areas. The program focuses on principles of systems engineering design that are required to design and troubleshoot computer engineering systems. In addition to classroom time, students serve internships, have industrial and laboratory field experiences, guest speakers and special seminars.
There are 10 undergraduate agricultural degrees plus a Bachelor of Science in Agronomy and a Bachelor of Science in Animal Sciences. NMSU also offers several bachelor’s degrees in engineering and computer science. The Dual Degree BS/MS in Computer Science is a five-year program that requires either a thesis or a project. The first three years of courses satisfy the requirements for the bachelorate and the last two fulfill the master’s degree requisites. Besides general education courses, there are 76 credit-hours in the major.
There are also bachelor’s degrees in creative writing, IT and family and child studies as well as four degrees in finance and several in marketing. The Marketing: PGA Golf Management degree contains 120 credit-hours and has courses in accounting, marketing and operations management, among others. There are four elementary education degrees including the BS in Education, Elementary Education: Language Arts (K-8); BS in Education, Elementary Education: Math (K-8); BS in Education, Elementary Education: Science (K-8)and the BS in Education, Elementary Education: Social Studies (K-8).
New Mexico State University also offers 18 engineering degrees in the traditional format.
Traditional graduate programs include the Master of Accountancy; Master of Science in Aerospace Engineering; PhD in Aerospace Engineering and the MS in Family Practice Nursing as well as graduate degrees in Museum Studies, Social Work, Counseling and Guidance. Clinical Mental Health Counseling and Counseling Psychology. The last program is a Doctor of Philosophy in Counseling Psychology and focuses on social justice advocacy issues. It includes multiple internships and field experiences in addition to participation on a research team.
The Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling is a traditional degree that takes a minimum of two years of study to complete. Requirements in the program that satisfies licensure requisites are 100 hours of practicum and 600 hours of internship.
The Master of Arts in Government is a traditional degree program that is offered in evening classes and takes two years to complete. It contains 36 credit-hours and is presented in either a thesis or non-thesis format.

About New Mexico State University
This school began in 1888 as the Las Cruces College and included an elementary school as well as a college prep and a business school. In 1889, it merged with the New Mexico College of Agriculture and Mechanic Arts, and in 1960 it was renamed.
This land grant/ sea grant public research university offers 28 doctoral degrees, 58 master’s degree programs, and 96 undergraduate degrees. There are as many classes on campus that have fewer than 20 students as there are with between 20 and 49 students. The student-to-faculty ratio is 17:1.

New Mexico State University Application Requirements
Students applying to NMSU as first-time freshmen should complete the online form. They should have at hand the information about their desired degree and which campus they want to attend. There is a $25 non-refundable application fee that should be paid with a credit card. Applicants must arrange for their high schools to submit their official transcripts to the university as well as for the testing agency that administered the SAT or the ACT to send those official scores.
Graduate applicants apply online as well and submit their transcripts digitally to the school. They should also submit the contact information for their recommenders, any other documentation required by the department that houses their degree program and their credit card information (required to pay the non-refundable application fee of $25).
Tuition and Financial Aid
The estimated cost-of-attendance for undergraduate students at NMSU is $22,972. That amount includes tuition and fees, residence hall and meal charges, books and supplies and personal expenses. The estimated cost-of-attendance for graduate students is $20,915. Undergraduate students earning their degrees online pay $369.10 per credit-hour. Online tuition for graduate courses is $399.50 and the cost for military students is $250 per credit-hour.
Students are encouraged to complete the FAFSA form early in their application process. That information, along with financial information form the school application form is used to determine eligibility for many scholarships. IN addition to the federal grants and loans, New Mexico offers the College Affordability Grant, the New Mexico Incentive Grant, and the TEACH program, among others.
The university has several programs based on merit and some based on financial need. These opportunities can be found on the university website. Additionally, there are outside scholarships and grants that are funded by individuals, service organizations and by corporations. These can be located through an Internet search.
