California Baptist University offers a Bachelor of Arts Christian Ministry that is available only in an online format. The program helps servant leaders understand and communicate biblical truths. Students gain a foundation of building blocks to better help the understand biblical-based theology and the impact on people. The program is a joint venture between the College of Architecture, Visual Art and Design along with the College of Behavioral and Social Sciences and is designed to prepare students to work in art therapy. Courses may include Drawing, Figure Drawing, Sculpture, New Genre, Painting, Watercolor, and Color Theory.

Students wishing to address emerging 21st Century challenges will benefit from the Bachelor Network Administration Management which is available online. The program provides an understanding of enterprise-level computer networks as well as network engineering, network security, Voice-Over-IP, wireless networks, operating systems as well as business and advanced computer networks, computer programming, ethics, and leadership theory. The program is taught with a Christian world view with courses that may include Programming for Network Administration, Project Management, Business Networking, Database Design, and Programming as well as Legal and Ethical Practices in Information Technology.

The Master of Arts in Communication is designed to deepen the understanding of historical, cultural and political dimensions of communication. Students learn to use communication research principles and theories to examine phenomena and behavior in order to better address communication issues. Students gain an understanding of integrity, ethics, diversity, community engagement and proficiency in analyzing the role of a Christian worldview in all areas of communication. The program is available online and courses required may include Media Affects on Communication Behavior, Digital Trends in Strategic Communication, Communication Ethics and Applied Communication Research.

The Doctor of Public Administration degree program allows graduates to take an active role in creating innovative, sustainable solutions to societal problems. The program is available online and is designed to create innovative leaders who seek to maximize impact in a wide range of organizations. The program requires 50 credit hours, which include a dissertation, and can be completed in three years. Students focus on one online class every eight weeks and courses are designed to meet the needs of those who must address complex and unique issues at the federal, state and local levels. Courses required may include Leadership in the Public Sector, Ethics and Social Justice, Performance Management and Evaluation as well as Legitimate Bureaucracy and Accountability.

About California Baptist University

Founded as the California Baptist College in 1950 by the Los Angeles Baptist Association, the school began with just 42 students. Initially, classes were held in El Monte, California, but when enrollment grew to 120 within the first year, the school was forced to move to a larger campus in Riverdale. Despite being a new campus, buildings used by the California Baptist College were built in the 1920s and still stand today. In 1998, it became California Baptist University when it gained university status.

Today, the school continues its mission to provide outstanding higher education with a Christian foundation with a goal to create graduates who will carry their skills and knowledge into the world, using them to help spread the word of Jesus Christ.

California Baptist University is accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges Accrediting Commission for Senior Colleges and Universities. Accreditation is a peer-review process that confirms programs offered are of the highest quality. Periodically, the University undergoes a voluntary review process to confirm that programs continue to meet the criteria of the Association. California Baptist University Application Requirements

Applicants to the Bachelor of Arts in Christian Ministry, Bachelor of Arts in Art Therapy or Bachelor of Science in Network Administration and Management program must hold a high school diploma or GED and must have a minimum GPA of 2.0. They must provide official high school transcripts as well as official transcripts from all colleges and universities attended. All applicants must meet with an admission counselor to complete the admissions process. Applicants to the art therapy program must also provide a portfolio of their work.

Applicants to the Master of Arts in Strategic Communication must hold a bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited college or university. They must provide official transcripts from all colleges and universities attended and must have a minimum GPA of 2.75 for unconditional admission or 2.5 for conditional admission. They must provide a 500-word personal essay as well. All students must meet with an admissions counselor as part of the admissions process.

Applicants to the Doctor of Public Administration must have a master’s degree or higher from an accredited college or university. They must provide official transcripts from all colleges and universities attended. Applicants must have a 3.0 for unconditional admission and a 2.75 for conditional admission. They must also have taken prerequisite courses or passed academic-level examinations in Statistics Competency, History and Theory of Public Administration as well as Organizational Theory. Applicants must provide a current resume and a personal statement of 500 words.

California Baptist University Tuition and Financial Aid

Tuition for the Bachelor of Arts in Christian Ministry and the Bachelor of Science in Network Administration and Management is $613 per credit hour. Tuition for the Bachelor of Arts in Art Therapy is $33,930 per year. Tuition for the Master of Arts in Strategic Communication is $580 per credit hour. Tuition for the Doctor of Public Administration is $897 per credit hour.

In order to qualify for financial assistance, students must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and the form must be renewed annually. Students may be offered grants, scholarships or loans. Those attending on campus may be offered work-study, fellowships or assistantships.
