With more than 80 majors and concentrations, Oklahoma Baptist University has a lot to offer. To the right student, the student who wants to look at his discipline through a faith lens, it might be the perfect fit.
The Paul Dickinson College of Business offers a Bachelor of Arts in Professional Accounting. This degree requires completion of 128 credit-hours. The program begins with a “Cornerstone” requirement, the Fundamentals of Accounting. Students then move on to Biblical Literacy, Writing and Literature, Science Literacy, History and Literature, Fine Arts and Foreign Language.
There is a 12-hour “Flex Core” that differs by program and the Business Core that contains 39 hours. Students then use 30 credit-hours and seven hours of electives to build a specialty. They may even take a minor. There are two emphasis areas: B.P.A., Interdisciplinary Emphasis and B.P.A. Information Assurance.
The program is designed for those students who want to take the C.P.A. exam.
Other programs at the baccalaureate level are in Animation, Anthropology and Art. There is a Bachelor of Science in Biology with a Forensics Emphasis that investigates biological investigational analysis including criminal forensics, pathology and DNA analysis.
Sample courses include Genetics, Microbiology, Arthropods of Medical Importance and Instrumental Analysis. This degree program is also heavy on chemistry and physics. It involves laboratory research in addition to field experiences.
In the field of computer science, the university offers a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Interdisciplinary Studies and a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems. There are three 18-credit-hour minors: Minor in Computer Science, Minor in Business Information Systems and Strategies and Minor in Information Assurance.
There is a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice that requires 128 credit-hours of study including 40 hours in the university common core, behavioral and social sciences, the Flex Core and 36-37 hours in the major. Sample courses are: Juvenile Delinquency, Victimology, White Collar Crimes and others.
There is also an 18-credit-hour Minor in Criminal Justice.
The Bachelor of Arts in Forensic Psychology prepares students for entry-level positions in this field, but also for graduate study. Sample classes are: Introduction to Criminal Justice, General Psychology, Research Methods in Psychology, Basic Counseling Skills, Aggression and Violence and others.
There are two available minors: Minor in Psychology or Minor in Advocacy.
Graduate programs at Oklahoma Baptist University include the Master of Arts in Intercultural Studies. This is a program that anyone can take, but it is intended for those preparing for the ministry. There are two focus areas: Christian Studies or Intercultural Studies. Additionally, students can choose one of three tracks. They may earn a Master of Arts in Christian Studies, Leadership; a Master of Arts in Christian Studies, Apologetics or a Master of Arts in Christian Studies, Intercultural Studies. This graduate-level program is also available online.
The Master of Science in Marriage and Family Therapy is a 45-credit-hour program that includes a foundation in faith. It prepares students to become members of the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapists. This program features evening classes and can be completed in two-to-four years. It is taught on campus only.
There are only five programs online at Oklahoma Baptist University. These include the Master of Business Administration which requires completion of 33 hours of study and costs $550 per credit-hour. Another program offered online is the RN-MSN program for registered nurses who want to earn a Master’s of Science in Nursing degree. The program requires 56-57 hours of study, but students may exit after 30 hours of study to receive a Bachelor’s in Nursing degree.
Certificates available at OBU include the MBA Project Management Certificate, MBA Energy Management Certificate , MBA Leadership Certificate and the MBA Corporate Innovation Certificate. There are also certificates in Medical Family Therapy, Global/Public Health and Nursing Education-Public Health.

This private Christian liberal arts school was founded in 1910 by the Baptist General Convention of Oklahoma. There are five colleges and a graduate school at the university. This school has a “substantial” core component that focuses on Western Civilization studies and gives students a broad fundamental understanding of western civilization culture through history and literature among other aspects.
The US News and World Report ranks this school as #7 of Regional Colleges West. It is selective, accepting only 64 percent of applicants, and it has a 13:1 student-to-faculty ratio.

Students applying to this school as first-time freshmen should select the proper application form, submit required documents including an official high school transcript and transcripts of any college-level coursework and official SAT and ACT scores. They must also submit a $125 enrollment guarantee that will be applied to the university account. They should complete a FAFSA and a housing application as well as providing the school with a health services record.
Graduate students apply to their program and comply with all requisites of the individual departments.
Tuition and Financial Aid
Undergraduate tuition at Oklahoma Baptist University is $27,912. There are additional charges for fees, housing and meals that bring the cost to $31,912, but students should also budget for books, supplies and personal expenses. All new students are guaranteed a $7,000 scholarship.
Graduate student tuition is $9,900, but that does not include fees and other expenses.
Generally, there are more scholarships and grants available for new students and undergraduate students, but this school has several scholarships and grants for graduate students as well. The Master of Science in Nursing Scholarship, Nancy McStay Memorial Nursing Education Scholarship and the RN-MSN Scholarship are examples of departmental aid that is available.
